5 Unknown Ways To Strengthen The Relationship Between You And Your Customers

by Samuel · 28 comments

Building reputable relationships with customers matters a lot in business. And if you are not able to build the right relationship with them, I doubt, if your business will be a fruitful one.

As a business owner, you must always try to build the right relationship with your customers in order to get the best from them. I’m sure no customers would not love to build a reputable relationship with you, when you are giving them the best.

In this post, I will be talking about the four unknown ways to strengthen the relationship between you and your customers, and they are highlighted below:

Inform Your Customers:

It’s good to inform your customers that you are not going to be around or you will be going on a break. So that when they get to your business location and they can’t find you, they won’t have the guts to complain because you’ve already informed them that you are not going to be around.

But if you don’t do that, most customers will be complaining that you should have informed them that you are not going to be around. Customers hate disappointment. And for you not to disappoint them, try to inform them if you are not going to be around or you will be going on a break.

It’s not a bad idea to inform your customers that you are not going to be around; it will help strengthen the relationship between you and your customers, if you are able to carry out the operation. It will show that you are reliable and you know what you are doing.

This idea might sound funny, but if you really want to get the best from them, I will advice you to embrace this idea. Well, for me I don’t think it’s a stupid idea because there’s no such thing as stupid idea. It’s only if you are scared to tell them, that’s why you will decide not to carry out the operation.

Apologize:

Try to apologize if any customer complains about a product they get from you. Help them get another product. And if a customer ask for a product and you don’t have that type of product in store, try to apologize and find a way you can help the customer get the kind of product he or she wants.

If you are able to apologize for any product that has error, I mean the product that does not satisfy the customer taste, it will help strengthen the relationship between you and your customers. Also if they don’t get the type of product they want from your store and you tried your best in order to get it for them, it will help strengthen the relationship between you and your customers. Because it shows that you care for them and they will never stop spreading the word about your business. In business, every little thing that you do to your customers count. So try to give them the best.

Funny Attitude:

When negotiating a price of a product with customers or you are just chatting with the customer about your services, always try to chat with them in a funny way, I mean always put a smile on your face  when chatting with them and you should try to make them laugh.

I love this idea, chatting with customers and making them burst out I mean making them smile is not a problem for me, because it’s my hobby.

You might be thinking that it’s not an easy thing to do. Incase you don’t know, this idea is one of the easiest idea to strengthen the relationship between you and your customers. If only you are not willing to carry out the operation, that’s when it won’t be easy but trust me if you are able to do this, customers will love you.

Give it a try and I’m sure you will love it. Don’t be scared, no customer would slap you for making them smile, they also love it. So go for it!

Let Them Know That Your Yes Is Yes:

It’s a good thing to let your customers know that your yes is yes and your no is no. it will help strengthen the relationship between you and your customers. What I’m trying to say is that; let your customers know that you are the man of your words and you can never do anything that will hurt them.

So that, when you tell them the fact about your services, they won’t have the gut to doubt your services, because they already know that when you say yes, it means that the services you are offering them is the best. When you say no it means that you can’t offer them any bad services, so let the trust be there.

If you are able to follow this principle, it will show that you are reliable and every customer would love to work with you. If you haven’t introduced this idea into your business, I think it’s high time you do that now.

Appreciate:

Whenever you render your service to a customer, try to appreciate them for their patronage. It will help strengthen the relationship between you and your customers.

Saying “Thank You” is enough, and I’m sure customers would be glad to hear that. Don’t ignore the act of appreciating your customers. It shows that they value more than gold to you. It will also make the customers come for your services again. So I’m encouraging you to embrace this idea.

Hey Sam,

Thanks for the fantastic post!

You are absolutely correct abo your points. I have to agree with everyone you made. One of the most important things in running a business is informing your customers whenever your doing anything. Taking a break, launching a product, changing themes, etc. It’s always good to let people know if change is about to take place. Great job dude!

P.S I think the title should be 5 unknown ways to strengthen the relationship, because you have 5 bolded points. Just my 2 cents.

Anyways, thanks again!

Thanks for sharing Samuel!

A funny attitude is something I try and have in my job; dealing with customers face-to-face can be a bit taxing after a while, especially if you have a lot of tricky ones. But keep things light-hearted and don’t stress, and you’ll keep on the right track :-)

Nice sharing Sam,

I think the most important thing is to show your customers that you are a real human too, you have your weaknesses and you are doing mistakes as well as all people.

This way you can build a stronger relationship I think, moving from business relationship to personal is the message of today social media era.

Hi Samuel

I try to give the best customer service I can. By delivering quality products and quality service, I have already had re-orders and I’ve only been selling since last month :-)

With my online customers, if they are regular readers, I put in a surprise gift as a thankyou for supporting my blog and my business. So far my customers seem to be very satisfied with the service I am delivering.

However, I still have heaps to learn about marketing. Offline my sales are steady. Still learning about online sales. Joined a biz support group that will start in Jan 2011 so I am sure I will learn heaps there too. Always good to learn from those who are successful. As they share their experiences, hopefully I will not make the same mistakes and will learn from their success :-)

Hi Samuel

I just came across your site today. This is a great article because if you believe the old adage that it costs 5 times as much to gain a new customer than to retain an old one, you’re best ensuring that any customer you deal with is a happy one.
