Before forming a partnership business I guess you must have known the cons and pros of partnership business.
Building a successful business through partnership is not a day job; it’s tough because if the business partners can’t withstand the storm the business will fall off the board. That’s why it is always advisable for an entrepreneur going into a partnership business should sit down and think, before taking the decision.
People who are building successful business through partnership will tell you what they go through before the business can be successful. It’s not a day job if I must tell you. So in this post I will be talking about the sins you should avoid if you don’t want to ruin your business.
Greediness:
If you have read my article on How to Seek For a Good Business Partner, you will note that I mentioned that you should go for a partner whose mind is not made up of the greedy spirit. Greediness is one the things that do make business partners fall apart.
You know, when greediness come into someone’s life it will ruin the person. Don’t ever let the spirit of greediness over thrown your life because it will make you hit the bad end in business. If you are a greedy fellow you can’t run a partnership business, in short you can even build a successful business.
Greediness is not an act we should all embrace; it’s a very bad idea. Greediness can tarnish one’s reputation in the business world also outside the business world. So as an entrepreneur that is into a partnership business, I urge you not to embrace the idea of greediness if you want to build a successful business. Also if your partner is a kind of greedy fellow I guess you need to find a solution for your business partner so that he or she will not add salt to your cornflakes
.
Misunderstanding:
There’s nothing good than understanding yourself, I mean it’s always good for business partners to be able to understand each other, failure to sort out things amicably will not help your business at all. Any business partner that doesn’t know how to sort out things amicably will not be able to run a partnership business. Sure misunderstandings do occur in partnership business but what matters is how you can be able to sort out things amicably. You must not take things personal.
Don’t let misunderstandings be the reason why you will quit your partnership business. When people who knows you, ask you about the reason why you are not running your business, if you tell them that due to misunderstanding you stopped the business. They will look at you like a fool why? Because they believe that before you choose to partner with your business partner, you must have taking a deep thought about it.
So they don’t expect you guys to quit the business due to misunderstanding and they will also think that if at all there’s a misunderstanding, you guys should be able to sort out things. So if you don’t want to disappoint your customers also if you don’t want to disappoint yourself try to sort out any problem amicably. Don’t run mad when there’s any misunderstanding between you and your business partner, also don’t try to take things too personal.
Underground Ruins:
Pardon me for using the word underground ruins but if you really look at it, you will know that it’s underground ruins. What I mean by underground ruins is that when you are doing a dirty transaction and you alone is pocketing the money without the consent of your business partner. This kind of situation is very bad. And it is very common among business partners. I see no gain in engaging in that kind of act because it would burst ones ass and tarnish ones image.
So what am trying to say is that, any business transaction you are going to transact should be let known to your business partner and don’t try to transact it underground just because of your selfish interest.
Ok, let me ask you a question? The underground business transactions you have been transacting without the awareness of your business partner don’t you think that the underground ruins can burst out one day? So before you try to engage yourself in that act I want you to re-think so as not to ruin your business with your business partner.
Pretend:
What I mean by pretend is that, when you and your business partner both agreed on subject A but you pretend as if yes you accept the subject with all spirit but you yourself know that you don’t welcome the idea and you decided to go for subject B. For instance, you and your business partner both agreed on not to purchase some certain goods from a supplier but you went ahead to patronize the supplier that you and your business partner agreed on not to patronize, what do you think will happen when your business partner find out that you are still patronizing the supplier? I guess it will call for a big mess. So try to follow your business partner with full spirit, when he or she says yes, you also should say yes and if at all you don’t go with that idea try to sort things out and don’t be the devil behind your business.
Not Sticking To the Plan:
This is one common thing every business partner should try to avoid if he or she doesn’t want to ruin the business. You should always stick to the plan you are told to carry out. for instance, you and your business partner both agreed on carrying out things differently like now, you will focus on the marketing while your business partner will focus on the financial aspect but you are not doing the job that’s being assigned to you effectively, tell me how do you want the business to grow when you are not carrying out the job you are supposed to? So try to stick to the plan, I mean you should always try to carry out the job that’s been assigned to you effectively.
Speak Your Mind:
What do you think business partners should avoid so as not to ruin their business? Or have you been involved in any partnership business before? Feel free to comment below by sharing your opinion. Thanks a lot.

Hi Samuel
When I first started blogging I was asked to joint venture with a guy who was running a blog for someone else. He already had a professional post offline too but said he liked my articles and could see potential for my blog. I hesitated as from where I was standing it looked like I was going to do all the work and he was going to profit from it! It didn’t go anywhere as I didn’t take up his offer. I have had heaps of help from fellow bloggers and been encouraged in my blogging venture without it being about money. Just helping me along my journey. I have offered to help other too in the areas I find easy. I would not at this point think about a JV as only small biz just starting up and I am happy with how things are.

Hi Momma,
Am glad to hear that things are moving the way you want it to move. It’s good to think before venturing into any partnership business. Thanks a lot. Have fun.
I would say greediness is top on the list. Major partnerships fail as a result of greediness on the part of one or both partners. So I good way to combat this off front is to decide what amount to be paid as salary and make sure you are both co-signatories to a corporate account. This might not totally eradicate greedy tendencies, but it’s sure a step in the right direction.
