Are you surrounded by people who are in the same market with you? Have you being looking for ways on how you can stay ahead of the game? Running a business around people who are in the same market with you is a tough game. Because everyone will be looking for ways on how they can dominate the market.
This problem affects offline businesses the most and this post is mainly created for people running an offline business. If you are also running an online business, you can grab one or two lessons from the post; you just have to read on.
If you are not brave and strong, you can’t get anywhere. Because you will be losing customers to your competitors and as times goes on you will be getting fed up with your business.
Only smart business owners or entrepreneurs can survive in a competitive market. I’m sure if you are in a competitive market you will know what I’m talking about. Have you being to a place where all the business owners are offering the same services? How do you feel when you get there? I’m sure you will be wondering how they manage to cope because people will be free to select who they want to patronize.
Tips to get more customers in a competitive market are highlighted below:
Offer Top Quality Products:
One of the things you can use to hook down your customers is by offering them top quality products. It will serve as the bond that will help make them remember you wherever they are. Because when you offer them top quality products, they will be glad to find you again in order to patronize you.
See, the fact is this, when you offer top quality services to your customers, they will be glad to tell their friends about you. Even if their friends cannot locate where your business location is, they will bring their friends to where your business is located.
How will you feel when you go to a store you haven’t bought something from before, and when you get something’s from the store, you found out that the services they offered you was top quality? I’m sure you will be glad to find the store and you won’t hesitate to go back there and patronize them again. To stand out from the rest, try to offer top quality products.
Be Friendly:
When customers come for your services, always smile at them. Show them that you are the kind of friendly person they would love to work with. Doing this is one of the tricks to always bring customers back.
To any customer that come around, either young or old always smile at them. Smiling is a good thing to do. They will never forget you wherever they are. They will be glad to tell people that you are the kind of person the world would love to work with. How do you expect a customer to come back and patronize someone who is always boning? I’m sure the customer will never come back.
Try to chat with customers in a friendly manner so that you guys can both understand each other better.
So I’m urging you to embrace the friendly spirit and smile at your customers always. It maybe to your old customers or regular customers, it doesn’t matter. You just have to make sure they feel good when leaving your business location for their place of work or home.
Give Them Your Business Card:
To any new customers that come around to patronize you, try to hand over your business card to them. Before handing over your business card to them, make sure that you’ve offer the customer the best services he or she ever wanted. So as to accept the business card from you and help you carry out what you tell him or her to do.
If you should hand over your business card to customers who leave your store in a mood that he or she doesn’t like, the person will collect the card and throw it in a waste bag. I’m sure you don’t want that kind of thing to happen? So make sure the person who you are handing your business card to is in a good and happy mood.
When you hand over your business card to them, tell them to give you a call whenever they want anything from you or the person should help spread the word about your business and if they should find anybody who needs your services, they should help direct the person to you. And tell them that you will surely reward them for doing that. I bet they will help you out. Never under-estimate this idea, because it truly works.
Appreciation:
When any customer is leaving for his or her place, make sure you appreciate them for patronizing you. Doing that will show that you really value their patronage. In business, if you want to build reputable relationships with customers and make them help spread the word of mouth about your business, you must always appreciate them. See, little things count in business. If you think it doesn’t matter, you are losing it.
Some customers might be expecting you to say thank you but when you didn’t turn up, they won’t tell you that you don’t know how to show your customers some love. No, they won’t. What they will do is in their mind. Because of not saying thank you, some might go elsewhere and patronize the person who really values his or her customer.
So never neglect this idea, things that you think doesn’t count in business are the ones that really count.
Conclusion:
If you are able to carry out the above listed tips, you will stay ahead of your game. Even your competitors will be thinking that you are using another thing to attract customers without knowing that you only apply some tips in other to stand out from the rest.

If all else fails, try something different. Perhaps even unexpected. As long as you don’t rely on it, the worst that can happen is indifference. The best that can happen is a lead on the competition

I use my personal experience financial intelligence to break from the crowd. I haven’t seen too many blogs on financial intelligence, although I am sure there are tons out there, but I use my share my knowledge base from the perspective of someone who had no financial intelligence just 3 years ago and made lots of mistakes.
Today, I am an avid reader and am constantly learning about how to make money work for me and not the other way around.

Great advice as always Samuel. It’s definitely important to set yourself apart from the rest if you want to succeed in a competitive market, and these tips can help a business do just that.
The best tip you gave is to be friendly, because there a few businesses these days that know what being friendly is. Giving your customers a warm smile and taking some time to talk and get to know them is a great way to keep your customers coming back. Thanks for sharing.

You’ve said it all
I agree with everything you mention in this post. Many people in business fail to appreciate the importance of customer/client service. If, after every business interaction, your customer or client leaves feeling good about themselves and clutching a business card to punctuate their experience, they are going to remember you. And they’ll come into your next interaction with a positive vibe, which is half the battle.

Hi Samuel
I like these posts about marketing. My offline sales are going okay. Online is different. Have heaps to learn about this. I like how your emphasis is on quality products and good customer care.
Both are absolute priority for business success. How I plan to be different to my competitors is to offer not only prompt customer service but with my regular customers I will be putting a surprise gift in with the order. I also wrap the parcel in lavender gift wrap and do a hand-written thankyou with the order.
Offline I do give my business cards to my customers and also tell them they can call if they have any queries or want to re-order any products. Products are also sent out quickly and for my online cusotmers I send a thankyou email.
Thankyou for an informative post Samuel. Much appreciated.

Glad you love the post
Great points here Samuel – it comes down to flexibility, quality and relationships. Sounds like a simple formula – but many business models weren’t created to uphold these simple paths – so they can’t compete when times get tough; when markets get lean. This offers ample room for the agile company to make their move and claim their spot at the top. I enjoyed this article Samuel – thank you!

Hi Samuel,
Smiling my friend is one of the main keys that helps compainies do well. When people who work for a company smile to their customers, this builds good relationships and customers love to come back. After all, no one wants to deal with frowning companies

What’s up, Samuel?
Differentiating in a competitive market is a fundamental challenge that entrepreneurs have to face. But I feel that focusing on the competition can actually be detrimental.
In very mature industries (-ex- Coca-Cola versus Pepsi), you find companies looking at what the competition is doing, and then trying to be one or two steps ahead. It leads to incremental improvements, and a lack of a sustainable competitive advantage.
There is a fantastic book that people should read on this topic. It is called BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY. And it teaches how to be different by competing on dimensions that other competitors are not even thinking of.
You can do that by pulling good ideas from businesses outside your industry.
But most importantly, before even trying to get clever about how to differentiate… a person first has to be the BEST version of themself, that they can be. I’ve been writing a lot about developing a Personal Brand lately. That falls into this category.
Great topic – thanks!

Hi Samuel,
Market is actually very competitive. Is there any place for common newbies. I think very hard. Day by day it’s getting more difficult for us to cope with the competition. Sometimes, I am getting upset. May I be able to reach the end of the ladder or …..? But your article must give something to think. Hope it’ll help me a lot. Thanks for sharing.
