Are you planning to build a great company? Have you ever thought of owning a company someday? Building a great and ever lasting company is what you and I want. Many people keep wishing and dreaming for this kind of thing yet they never for once take a step.
Building a great company that will be profitable and last long is not an easy thing to do but I want to assure you that if you are ready to give it what it takes, you will surely build a great company. If you should ask people who have built great companies about how they feel or how they manage to cope when building their companies, I’m sure they will have enough stories to share with you.
Though there are numerous reasons why many people will never build a great company but the top reasons will be talked about in this post. Reasons why you will never build a great company are highlighted below:
- Looking For The Perfect Idea:
This mostly affects aspiring entrepreneurs who are just starting out. They want to prove to the world that they can invent the next big thing like Bill Gate. I’m not saying that you can’t do it but the more time you waste in finding the next big thing to invent, you will miss the cool and great idea you can transform into reality in order to build a great company.
If you keep looking for the perfect idea, you will never start a startup talk less of building a great company. The fact is, you don’t have to get the perfect idea before you can build a great company. No, you can never get the perfect idea! You just have to open your eyes in order to recognize opportunities, and transform it into a reality. Hoping for the perfect idea to start as a startup is the last thing you can ever think of. You can venture into any startup that has been in existence, provided that you are innovative and you are ready to give the game a life.
What I’m trying to say is that, it’s either you follow your passion or solve a pain by starting a startup that will cure the people’s pain. Find what people need and help find the cure to their problems. Be innovative in order to give the game a life. And stop bothering yourself about the next big thing to invent! If you keep bothering yourself about that, I doubt if you will start a startup.
- Using The Power Of Tomorrow:
How will you build a great company when you start procrastinating? You keep using the power of tomorrow till someone else grabs the idea you are trying to start. How will you feel when you found out that the idea you are trying to transform into a reality has been executed by another person? I’m sure you will feel very bad for not starting earlier.
I’m guilty of this, I’ve being trying to start a startup, but I keep on looking for the perfect time to start. Not that I’m not in the mood to start the startup immediately, but the person whom I shared my startup idea with said we should not start the startup now (then) and we should wait for the perfect time. Which I partially agreed.
The main thing that was hindering me then was the funding of the startup, I’d been I have enough funds for the startup; I would have not listen to that voice. But because I thought he would be able to fund it so I decided to wait. Little did I know that I’m missing out big time. Until recently I came across the startup I’ve been wanting to start, the startup was recently started and when I saw it, I was like I would have started this startup earlier but all the same life goes on. I regret ever listening to that voice. At least I’ve learnt from my mistake. And that does not mean I won’t start a startup, No I will be starting a startup soon
I will keep you updated as things goes.
So what I’m trying to pass across to you is that, never use the power of tomorrow because if you do, you will end up staying in one place instead of getting yourself promoted. Never listen to people who will tell you that you should wait for the perfect time to come. Because it will never come. And don’t let anything hinder you.
- Laziness:
To build a great company, you need to eliminate laziness from your life. Laziness will do you no good. You have to put in 100% in all what you do. I guess you need to read this article written by a friend of mine William and the title of the article is Go in 100% All Day Everyday.
You just have to start with full spirit, and give all attention your startup needs. Because if you keep embracing the spirit of laziness, you will never get things done. You will keep sitting down in one place and by doing that; you will never get on the track of building a great company. Stay away from the trap of laziness and get your hands dirty J
- Paying Mind To Amateurs:
If you can’t trust or follow your gut, you will never be successful in life. Paying attention to amateurs will cost you a lot. It will cost you to the extent that you will feel like hitting yourself with a sledge-hammer.
Amateurs are people who are always bonded by fear; they never for once think that things are possible; they keep on having impossibility in their dictionary. So why on earth are you listening to this people? If you should share an idea with them, they will for sure give you a negative feedback.
My advice to you is to pay mind to people who can add value to your life and can make you break new grounds in life. Never think negatively. If you have being wanting to start a startup but people are giving you negative feedback about it, and you are sure that you will make the startup a profitable one, please go for it and forget about what people say.
Who knows if it’s that startup that will really make an impact in this world? Don’t be scared of failure, it’s when you are afraid to fail that is when you will put a limit to your success. So I’m urging you to trust your gut and pay no mind to amateurs.
- Not Staying High In The Learning Mode:
I was reading an article on Martin Zwilling blog. In his article, he said entrepreneurs should learn to stay high in the learning mode. Which is true?
How do you want to invest in yourself when you don’t stay high in the learning mode? I’m sure you will get no where. To be a successful entrepreneur, you must be ready to stay high in the learning mode. Try to eliminate anything that will hinder you from doing that.
Not learning will cost you a lot. How will you adapt to the trend if you don’t stay high in the learning mode? By learning, it will improve your knowledge and you will get to know more about things you don’t know before. So I’m urging to keep learning and never put a stop to it.
Conclusion:
Stop looking for the perfect idea; you just have to be innovative. The startup you are trying to start might be in existence before but to beat your competitors hands down, you just need to be innovative. Try to do the old things in a new way. Trust your gut and keep learning. Never forget to network with the right and influential people who will help you out. See you at the top.

On point bro! Im so guilty of point 2 and 3, its embarassing! As for ideas gone by and taken up by someone more ‘serious’, yip, i can kick myself. As you say, life goes on.
Hi Malaika,
You just have to keep striving! Thanks for the comment
Sure, life goes on
Hey Sam,
Glad I dropped by for the 2nd time today! Not once nope but twice haha. I just new for some reason today would be the day you update us with some more valuable knowledge. ( :
Many people say they want to do this and what that, but all they are is a lot of talk. I don’t like people who talk the talk, but never walk the walk. This is why now I just keep quite lol, because it’s far easier for you to talk the talk, then walking the walk. So, I just shut up until I’m elating the walk!
Procrastionation is what kills most peoples dreams and aspirations. You should wait till your 50 years old to finally take the first step. I must admit when I first decided to start a blog I didn’t think i was ready, but instead of letting fear over come me I jumped right into the fight. Since then iv been swinging like crazy knocking people out! Haha naw, I’m just playing. You get my point though, one must take action.
P.s I love the last point & I think you know why lol(insider joke).
Thanks again!
God bless,
William Veasley

Sam – I once had an idea for an iphone app ( I wont say what it is) and I never acted upon it. Months later I saw someone had come out with a similar idea and was selling the app for $5. I bought the app because I wanted to determine, if in fact this was similar to what I had thought about. Not only was it similar but i t was even better. I regretted not acting on my idea but I am glad that someone else took action and demonstrated that you must take action and never leave things for tomorrow.
I have another idea for a WP plugin that I think would an awesome hit and I am researching ways to introduce it but for now I am keeping it under wraps. I’m waiting to hear Pat Flynn talk more about this in his upcoming podcasts!

Hi Hector,
Rock on bro.
Feel for you man. The person who is fast at execution do win big in the game! No time to waste bro. Can’t wait till you launch the pluggin. I’m sure it will be great
Most of the good ideas I’ve had “just come to me”. It’s a completely subconscious process. I write the idea down, then evaluate the merits of the idea a little later. I’ve never really sat down and thought to myself “I’d like to come up with a good idea”. It doesn’t work as well that way. I think that’s how a lot of bloggers come up with their next blog post, and that’s why the post is boring. It’s not an idea – it’s just something that they tried searching through the archives to get.

Hi TJ,
I understand what you are trying to say bro. And I agree with you bro. Idea is something that just flow into your mind without thinking about it. Ideas do come by mostly when you are playing and doing something else. The moment you grab it and put it into work, you will make it big. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say? Thanks so much for the comment
Try to do old things in a new way – right on! The default, cop out is to rehash the same old content and strategies we read about but there’s a lot to be said for originality. Go in 100% all day everyday is solid advice, man. That takes discipline and if you don’t commit from the outset to giving it your all then you’re going to have a tough road ahead.
Laziness is poison. It erodes your dreams and aspirations. It feeds on itself and grows. Sprinkle procrastination in there and you wake up 5 years from now with nothing more accomplished than you started.
Taking action is important. You covered it but it’s true; you can’t agonize over finding the “perfect” solution for your clients or the “ideal” business or empire to build. Without starting small and taking a few lumps, who’s to say you could manage a big, successful endeavor right from day one anyhow?
Thanks!

Since most of the good ideas are taken (or you need to be a genius to find one that would still work), all we normal people can do is take the used ones and build upon them as best as we can. If you put hard work and dedication into an idea, whatever that may be, it’s bound to happen and take you to success.
Few people realize this.
